LIGHT PLASTICITY. Light in a crystal

DOC ART GALLERY presents a unique exibition project “LIGHT PLASTICITY. Light in a crystal”, uniting works of a leading Russian stone carvers Alexander Leventhal, Sergey Shimansky, and Pavel Danilovtsev.

Imagine: in a pitch-dark on the spinning platform stays stone carved sculpture. However, the moment that beam of light fall on it, the magic begins. Light is the main co-author of artists, awakening stone to a new life. Every turn is a born of a new images, meanings and personal interpretations. A transparent crystal, pierced by the light, create an animation effect – appears an illusion that you are observing a movement of the soul of the stone itself.

The interaction of color and light plays a unique role in the perception of stone-carving art of light plasticity. The contrast of the colored fragments of transparent objects and their dynamics in the light directed at the rotating object create a picturesque effect. It not only complements and enhances the author’s original concept, but also imparts a new polyphonic sound to graphic objects.
